Plantation programme was first started in June 2019 & since then Green Avani Foundation is undertaking the same at regular intervals at different places with required official permissions. On every Saturday & Sunday members of team Green Avani, along with the volunteers from all over Lohegaon area organise a planned Post Plantation Care Drive wherein we all water the plants with required quantity, arrange & repair the fencing, put fertilizers & soil, remove weed, create soil berms & do miscellaneous tasks that are required for smooth growth of the plants.

Based on the observations during the care drive we assess the areas where there is more requirement for care & cover them in following care drives. We choose variety of native plants which grow taller, green year around & will provide fruits for birds & insects & flowers to honey bees.

Where to plant the trees is generally a collective decision made by our team, foresters, and the planting crews, based on information obtained in the site reconnaissance. The key is to select the site that, when planted, will lead to the establishment of a successful tree plantation. Often, the choice of the planting site is limited to lands which are not suited for agriculture or livestock production; when this is the case, the site reconnaissance information gains importance.

The boundaries of the planting site, once the area has been chosen, gets marked with boundary posts. When there is a danger of trespassing and damage by grazing animals, a boundary fence are proposed to be established. Fencing is costly and, therefore, should only be built when other means of protection are not effective. Once a tree plantation is well established and the trees are sufficiently tall, the fences can be removed and reused at another planting site. When roads and other passageways traverse the planting site, they should also be contained with fences.

To create awareness among residents & especially children of the society Green Avani regularly organise various competition based on the theme of environment conservation for all age groups for which we receive tremendous response. These competitions helps to understand the need for nature nurturing.

Our team of Green Avani Foundation has also volunteered in Marathon 2019, one of its kind happening in Lohegaon for the first time ever whose motive was environment protection & bringing together people of Lohegaon for a common cause. It was a huge success with more than 1500 participants.

At Green Avani Foundation we understands the need for elderly care. Our team regularly visit old age homes. While visiting an old age home we take gifts, fruits, play with them, also talk with them.

Recent research that shows that loneliness is a major health problem, causing damaging stress and even memory loss. Even those living with others in group settings can experience the dangers of loneliness. Visits to old age home, however, can provide wonderful opportunities for bonding, connection, and learning from one another.
